The former cong leader and minister in UPA govt, Mr Beni Prasad Verma, has enlisted himself once again in Samajwadi Party on Friday. Mr Verma had left the party after the annoyance with Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav in 2008.
Mr Beni interacted with media persons said ,"I felt much suffocation in the cong party for the past two years."
Mr Beni Prasad Verma had joined the cong in the year 2008. He fought his election from Gonda parliamentary constituency where 15% voters were ethnically Kurmi caste. The vote’s numbers in this election were in the favour of Beni and he won the Patliamentry election.
The congress party utilised Mr. Beni at poll front to lure the backward vote bank in the assembly election 2012. Mr Beni Verma was assigned the post of state Iron Ore Minister (independent)  in the Union Government and next year he was stepped up as a cabinet minister before this election.  The backward vote bank theory in this assembly election had flopped. The cong couldn't secure even a seat in the strong hold area of Beni Prasad Verma.
Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav welcomed Mr Verma and said, “ Beni is our old friend and he is the man who had named our party -- Samajwadi Party! He had helped very much in the organisation of  party. Mr Beni was always with us in our every political decision. His rejoining in the party will send the message around the country that the SP will fight for Lucknow together with Delhi.”
It is noticeable, Mr Beni Prasad Verma was seeking election ticket from Sanajwadi Party for his son, Rakesh Verma, in year 2007. Rakesh Verma was withheld from the election ticket. This resented Mr Beni Prasad Verma. He left the party; made Samajwadi Krantidal and later joined congress in the year 2008.
Mr Beni Prasad Verma with his son Rakesh Verma and a supporter arrived to meet with at Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Lucknow residence where he joined his membership in Samajwadi Party. Mr Beni Prasad Verma has been very close to Rahul Gandhi and was a union minister in UPA government.
Mr Beni Prasad Verma had targeted to Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav in Parliamentary election, but seeing the ethnic equations of coming assembly election the SP chief embraced Beni and Beni said, “What have gone in past cannot be repeated. We are in brotherhood. We have to work together to make Akhilesh CM again. Fraternity fights in home and reconciles it."
Mr Azam Khan praised Mr Beni and said, “He is strong leader. When he had left the party, it saddened us.”  The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr Akhilesh Yadav, welcomed Mr Beni and said, “ old wine; old books and old friend – all cannot be forgotten.”
Mr mulayam singh yadav on this occasion tuned his political speech and has said that the muslims in the country are being ignored at every front. He appealed for help from media.
