Socially and educationally advanced classes divide on income criterion: reservation protest in Gujarat

By on Thursday, June 30, 2016
In their reply submitted before a division bench of Chief Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice V M Pancholi, the petitioners refused to accept the government's claim that ten per cent EWS quota is just a classification and not a reservation.

In the reply, the petitioners said that the ordinance would lead to classification among socially and educationally advanced classes.

"The classification has divided the socially and educationally advanced classes into two classes on the basis of income criterion, which is against the spirit of the Constitution," it said.

It further said that the government has not applied its mind in devising the ordinance and making it applicable in technical faculty, such as engineering, as a large number of seats remain vacant every year in Gujarat.

"The question of providing reservation does not arise if there is lesser number of candidates than the seats available. The reservation is needed when the competition are held on lesser number of seats available," it said.

It is further submitted that "granting benefit of reservation on the basis of income, merit is sacrificed at the cost of public interest; It overlooks the interest and rights conferred by the Constitution under Articles 14,15 and 16"stated the reply.
“Challenging the government's claim that 10 per cent EWS quota is just a classification and not reservation, the petitioners said that "it is erroneous to suggest that there is no reservation...It is a reservation for them as indicated in the ordinance".

Modi cabinet has approved growth up to 23% in the salary of central government employees. The cabinet in the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have accepted the recommendation of 7th pay commission in a held meeting on Wednesday. The unions of government employees have dubbed it very bad pay commission so far; while the government is patting its back for this big step.
The co-ordinator of National Joint Council of Action including all the central employees at various departments, Mr Shiv Gopal Mishra says we had lodged our objections for this pay commission. Despite any changes the government has implemented it.  Rs 18000 have been recommended for the minimum wages; while it should have been Rs26000.
Mr Mishra told that technically hike is only 14% in pay. The sum of all allowances has reached the magic of 23 %. He added that 6th pay commission had hiked 52% remuneration and 5th had 40%. He further said that we had demanded removing new policy to implement old pension and minimum wages Rs 26000.
Mr Mishra said that we are going on indefinite strike at all India level on coming 11 th July in protest against the recommendation of this pay commission. More than 32 lacs employees will participate from all the central departments.  It is first strike after year 1974 which is going to stage.
He has issued premonition to the union government that if our demands are not considered, the government will be itself responsible for the public interest. If the government earlier of 11th July held a talk and find the solution, we are ready because we don’t want to create trouble for public.

li’l girl just wouldn’t greet Salman Khan

By on Tuesday, June 28, 2016
baby is not in his control
If there’s a man in Bollywood who can charm the young and old alike, it is Salman Khan (most would think it’s Shah Rukh Khan). Remember the video of little girl Suzi Khan who cried her heart out after watching Bajrangi Bhaijaan in the theatre? Salman met another young fan on the red carpet at the IIFA Awards 2016 and the video is a hit on Instagram. But guess what, this girl was too shy to even say hi to the Khan! In an effort to woo her, Salman quipped, “But I love you, no.”
The little fan’s mom was all comfortable with Salman and tried to tell the child that the star is her friend, which he probably is, but the li’l girl just wouldn’t greet Salman!
And that Suzi, by the way, made Salman’s heart melt so much that she was roped in for his movie Sultan! Looks like Salman is creating another Harshaali Malhotra (the little girl Munni aka Shahida in Bajrangi Bhaijaan) out of Suzi!

Let’s see if Salman casts this one as well in his next movie as well. But one thing is for sure, Salman surely is a charmer with women, young or old! He knows how to hit right spot and when to pitch in with a quick ‘I love you!’ What do you think?

Hidme's body to be exhumed for re-autopsy: fake encounter case of tribal girl

By on Friday, June 24, 2016
Soni Sori and Sanket Thakur informed that HC has ordered that autopsy should be video-graphed in presence of three member committee including chairperson of forensic committee of Jagdalpur Medical College, and doctors. The family members should be present while the body would be exhumed and other decisions over compensation and other demands would be announced after the autopsy report is submitted on Monday.
All this happened in the jungle of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh on June 13 when police allegedly raped; then killed her; made her body clad in Maoists uniforms; and declared it encounter. Chhattisgarh High Court assessed some foul play in the alleged incident of encounter.
The higher police officials are in perplexed after the court intervention. if the autopsy report on Monday to be submitted in high court is found not compatible to the police theory, the chief minister Raman Singh will be in trouble.
Madkam Hidme, 21, a tribal girl, who was married earlier this incident, had come to stay in her maternal home in Gompad village under Sukma district of Chhatisgarh. Her mother, relatives and the resident of village have alleged, “A team of Special Task Force of police lifted her forcefully on June 13.”

According to mother, “She was ill, but she was pounding the paddy to help in domestic work; meanwhile the police personnel barged in the house and began to lift her forcibly. I tried to prevent, but they kicked with boots and used the butt of guns on me. They dragged her nearby jungle. Some villagers were there in the wake of hunting when they heard my daughter’s scream, they reached with bows and arrows to help her; but the police drove them out.”
“On June 14, somebody on phone said with Gram Sachiv(Village head), ‘if you want the body of Madkam Hidme, reach to Kota police station.’ When I reached to police station with villagers, I looked that her body was wrapped in polythin was lying on road. Police said she was Maoist; she was killed in encounter. There were several cuts injury marks on her body. Whatever police may say, but I think she was raped by police. The villagers in jungle bush had looked her bangles fragments. On 15th of june, we buried her.”
According to police, Hidme was Naxal cadre and was the member of Kistram platoon no.8. She was gunned down near Gompad jungle. The matter was come in light after intervention of AAP leader and activist, Soni Sori. AAP and Cong both had desired to send their teams to know the real facts in the case, but the police hurdles barred him to reach the village. Soni Sori staged fast unto death after this.
As the photo graph of body came in media, there were surfaced many drawbacks in police statement. The family said when Hidme was lifted; she was in Sari; while her body was found in Maoist uniform.
Mr Sanket Thakur, AAP state convener filed an application on this ground in High Court. He presented before the court Hidme’s body photograph, in which she was in Naxal uniform; but the uniform was very clean and plain by press. Neither there were any marks of dust, nor there any shrinkage on cloth. There was looked no indication of encounter.  Most suspected thing was that 20 bullets were shot on her,  but there were no marks on the uniform riddled by bullets found. Thakur said this indicate that she was killed; then made her uniform clad.

Superintendent of police, EK ALESNA said, “The allegations has no significance and he has answer of every questions. Hidme was Maoist and she was killed in encounter. The body is dissected during autopsy.”

By on Wednesday, June 22, 2016

Swami Prasad Maurya
BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya blew a rebellious conch against his own party supremo, Mayawati. Mr  Maurya who has resigned from the post of party general secretary alleged Ms Mayawati is bidding of tickets. Maurya  said,  “BSP supremo has strayed from the path line of Kanshi Ram and Ambedkar.”  He added, “ Mayawati is not Dalit(poor); is the daughter of Daulat (rich).”

Sitting MLAs to be repeated in assembly elections: Rahul Gandhi

By on Wednesday, June 22, 2016

Four months after Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi indicated during a meeting in Lucknow that all the sitting MLA's will be repeated in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections due early next year, the Party has been Forced to reconsider the strategy.
The "rethink" comes days after as many as six Party MLA's  shifted loyalty and defied the party whip, cross-voted for other parties during the recent legislative Council and the Rajya Sabha Elections the Party also doubts that along with these six MLA's at least four other MLA's had also cross voted . The Party is now keeping a close watch on all its remaining legislatures.
"with it being open voting during the Rajya Sabha Polls, the six MLA's could be easily identified. However, we suspects that actually 10 MLA's, including these 6 had cross voted during the legislative Council Elections. Since the voting was not open, it is difficult to find out the name. But to avoid any sudden exodus before the elections we are keeping a close watch on all of them said a senior party leader, Congress had 29 MLA's, out of which 6 cross voted in favour of BSP and BJP candidates during the Rajya Sabha Polls creating a scare for the Parties official candidate Kapil Sibal, who Scraped through with support other Parties. The MLA's were later expelled from the Party. They included Muhammad Muslim from Rae Bareli, DilNavaz Khan from Bulandshahar, Kazim Ali from Rampur, Sanjay Jaiswal from Basti, Madhuri Verma from Bahraich and Vijay Dubey from Kushinagar.
Source informed that 4 other other MLA's who are suspected to have cross voted during the MLC polls, include 1 from the western Uttar Pradesh, 2 from Eastern UP and 1 from Bundelkhand. Thus out of its remaining 23 MLA's is confident only 19 Legislature at present.
Meanwhile, amidst talks of changes at the state level parties is also trying to identify workers and leaders who had openly demanded expulsion of sitting State President Nirmal Khatri during State executive meeting in Lucknow last week, in the presence of AICC General secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Asked about any possible action, Ram Krishna Dwivedi Chairman of UPCC disciplinary committee, refused to comment, calling it an internal Party matter. He however added, " we have an internal democracy within the party but in discipline will not be tolerated we are vigilant about such activities."

Union Home Minister breaks silence on Kairana:UP do needful to families' rehabilitation

By on Monday, June 20, 2016
The alleged departure story of Hindus from Kairana has broken the silence of home ministry in Union Government.
Mr Rajnath Singh, MP and Union Home Minister, has taken matter in cognizance and  advocated with Chief Minister of UP promptly to take action in this matter.
home minister on Sunday said, " if the alleged report has the probity, the state government should have to do the needful in this matter."
He said in Ahmadabad, “if somebody or a gang is forcefully dispossessing a few people from their native place, the state government must act against this conduct."
Mr Hukum Singh, MP BJP, had a few days ago alleged that the Hindu families that had caused them leave the native place have been menaced by the people of a community allegedly in a town Kairana of UP.
Mr Singh has said that he has been reported in this matter that a few families under fear have leaved Kairana, but this incident should not take communal colour. He said the incident of people departure should not turn into a communal dispute, but that the people left a place should not be so appalling condition… the rehabilitation of the exodus should be managed properly at their native land.
on being asked whether the such incident also took in some other places — as the BJP leaders claimed, he told he has heard; but not officially reported.
Hukum Singh released recently the list of 346 families who had allegedly left this town of Muslim majority. Kairana is under Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh where the communal riot had taken place in 2013.  On the matter of kairana people’s departure the state government assigned the probe to the district administration Shamli and found 188 families had left the place 5 years ago.

The spokespersons of state home ministry said that the list released by the BJP MP was investigated and found 66 families had left Kairana 10 years ago. He told, “The enquiry report reveals that the 60 families had left are living somewhere else because of education, employment and health reasons.  The 28 families of the list are still dwellers of Kairana

BLINK

By on Sunday, June 19, 2016

Vibhor Aggarwal
‘Earlier I used to be afraid of the dark, I wouldn’t allow my mom to shut the lights off and won’t go to sleep for hours, but now I would trade my accumulated wealth to see the face of darkness shroud my eyeballs.’ Rajiv resisted the urge of scratching his face.

‘How about itching?’ The doctor asked in a non-passionate voice
‘It gets worse with every passing day. It is hard to bear the morning sun.’ Rajiv finally took the paper napkin and wiped the squirm off his right eye.
The doctor passed him a cotton swab and again started the rigorous counseling session He held up a card and said ‘Can you read these letters?’
‘E…F…P…T…O…um L’
‘Repeat the last letter please.’
‘L’ Rajiv faked confidence.
‘Are you sure, it’s not Z’ the doctor asserted the last letter.
Rajiv couldn’t say it clearly.
‘Your eyesight is getting weak. In fact, it has deteriorated ten percent since the last session. I am prescribing another eye drop and couple of sedatives to help you sleep. And Rajiv.’ He paused to gain undivided attention from his patient. ‘I know it is tough to resist the temptation but you need to stop scratching it’
‘Yeah doc. I will.’ Rajiv took the paper from his hand and picked up his tinted glasses from the side table, he stumbled while trying to get up, the Doctor offered help but he rejected it and got up on his own.
Rajiv left the office before the doctor could suggest the stick. Rajiv called a cab to take him home, with a quick stop-over at the medical shop and when he reached his single bedroom apartment, the first thing he did was to switch off all the lights, removed his glasses and went to bathroom.
He splashed water on his face and splashed it again and again until his shirt was soaked in water and his eyes have quenched their thirst. He would have cried out his pain but tears won’t come easily.
He looked in the mirror, he hasn’t shaved in a month nor did he have a desire to shave any time soon. The scar on his brow ridge was prominently visible. He massaged the area around his eyes, particularly the eyelids. They were still paralysed, apparently he again have to spend the night with his eyes wide open.
‘Hey freak, how was the appointment?’ The voice came from the hall.
‘They all are okay until I go blind.’ Rajiv yelled. ‘And don’t come in here.’ Rajiv stopped the person as soon as he heard the footsteps. But the door of the washroom was already ajar.
‘Oh my god Rajiv, Why are you sitting on the wet floor, and why is your shirt all soaked up.’ Rajiv looked at the source of the voice and thought if only she was not beautiful. He held her hand and stood up though he felt weak in his knees.
‘Sneha I have an eye condition apparently there isn’t enough space in this house to accommodate two blinds.’ Sneha didn’t react to his scathing comment but instead took him to the bedroom.
The room was a dark and only a minimal light escaped through the windows which were otherwise curtained. She removed his shirt and threw a towel at him, ‘Help yourself freak.’ She said before leaving the room. Rajiv smiled and yelled ‘What no pity sex today?’ but Sneha was already out.
Rajiv hated the nights, every night he would lay on his bed waiting for the sleep to come but the primary requirement for sleep was never fulfilled. The sedatives were helpful only to a certain extent; above all he needed eye drops every hour. On the bright side Sneha always lost in the game of stares.
After over thirty sessions with the Doctor, during the course of one month Rajiv was reasonably satisfied that there was no cure and there never will be. Although in the first session, when the Doctor diagnosed him with the disease called Bell’s palsy. Rajiv’s first reaction was to look it up on Wikipedia.
Apparently it is a type of paralysis in which a person loses control of his facial muscle. Sometimes it is the lower lip, some people won’t stop winking, some can’t chew, there are some people who can’t open their eyes and then there are rare cases like Rajiv’s whose eyelids are jammed and won’t shut.
The Doctor ensured him that often the disease was not a big deal and would get cured on its own and only in rare cases it won’t go. Rajiv was disappointed when the Doctor thought that it might be a rare case.
One day Sneha was reading a book in the hall, when she heard a blood curdling scream from the bathroom. She ran into the bath room and saw that Rajiv was lying on the floor; a box cutter lay bare on the floor with its blade stained in blood. The crimson liquid flew out of the corner of his left and right eye, they were not merely self-inflicted wounds; they were the tears of blood.
Sneha took him to the hospital and admitted him while, the Doctor was informed.
‘You need five stitches on each side.’ The doctor was calm but his voice reflected a subverted anger. Rajiv groaned in reply, while Sneha stood beside his bed concerned.
‘Doc will he be ohkk.’ Sneha asked. The Doctor, clearly annoyed he answered ‘Sure, the only problem is that he has damaged his tear ducts so you have to do all the crying for him.’  Rajiv chuckled.
The doctor continued ‘Soon you will need a new pair of eyes, but with your current condition the Eye bank may reject your case as ineligible.’
‘Great, I also don’t want new set of eyes; I just want to remove these.’
‘Ok, if you want so.’ The Doctor was about to leave when he turned around.
‘Really… a box-cutter…you know there are more violent TV series to take inspiration from.’
Rajiv chuckled and then groaned in pain…

Sneha squeezed the last droplet of Chlorhexdine on Rajiv’s emerald green iris which made a stinging sensation and blurred his near blind vision. She placed the empty bottle back in the medicine box and checked the stock for other medicine.
‘Honey I am going to the medical shop.’ She announced while scribbling a bunch of names and picking her bag she started humming the song.
Rajiv heard her humming the song, which gradually faded in the background and then died when the door was slammed shut. He again heard a faded humming of an old lullaby which grew louder.
‘Sneha…’ Rajiv growled. But the humming didn’t stop.
There was something familiar in the voice, which was making Rajiv uncomfortable, He shifted his head around the room and try to scan the room with his blurry vision. No one was on the left side of the table, he turned his head to the right side; a familiar faint figure appeared on his bedside.
The voice no longer discomforted him, a peaceful smile spread over his face.
‘Maa, Maa…’  The figure smiled back at him.
She gently caressed his hair and ran her fingers on his face, it was soothing touch, it took away all his fear and all of the anxiety. He regained his vision and saw the figure doused in bright light.
‘Sleep, sleep son, everything is alright. Now sleep.’ His eyes felt heavy, and then image faded in the darkness that gradually overpowered his vision. It was all dark and calm, now he could sleep without ever needing to blink.

If charges leveled by Swami against Rajan are “genuine or justified”, government explain it: D. Raja, CPI

By on Sunday, June 19, 2016
New Delhi: The Congress party on Saturday accused the Narendra Modi government of “hounding out” the Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan and said he has done what any “self-respecting” person would do even as the Bharatiya Janata Party declined to comment.
BJP MP Subramanian Swamy, who ran a tirade against Rajan, took a jibe at the outgoing RBI governor’s decision, saying whatever “fig leaf” he wants for hiding the reality, the people should not grudge it and tell him goodbye. Former finance minister P Chidambaram said he was “disappointed and profoundly saddened” by Rajan’s decision against a second term, but was not surprised by the development.
“I am disappointed and profoundly saddened by the decision of Raghuram Rajan to leave the RBI on completion of his term on September 4, 2016, but I hasten to add that I am not surprised at all."
“As I had said sometime ago, this government did not deserve Rajan. Nevertheless, India is the loser,” he said. He said the government had invited this development through a craftily-planned campaign of insinuations, baseless allegations and puerile attacks on a distinguished academic and economist.
Rajan was appointed RBI governor by the United Progressive Alliance government in 2013 when Chidambaram was finance minister. Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said the government had “hounded” a good man as it did not have the courage to ask him to leave.
“The message that this fascist government is sending to regulators is that if you do not toe our line we will mount a campaign of calumny and wild insinuations and bludgeon you into submission. What Rajan has done is what any self-respecting man under such circumstances will do,” he said. Rajan had done a phenomenal work, he added.
BJP spokesperson G.V.L. Narasimha Rao declined to offer comments.
“BJP generally do not offer political comments on any office of independent regulator or Constitutional positions,” he said. Swamy was, however, quick to take potshots at Rajan. “R3 has said he will go back to US. Whatever fig leaf he wants for hiding the reality we should not grudge it. Say good bye!,” he said in a tweet. Earlier, reacting to Rajan decision against a second term, he told reporters, “Raghuram Rajan is an employee of the Government of India. We don’t select employees on the basis of popular vote.”
D. Raja of the Communist Party of India asked the government to explain if the charges Swamy levelled against Rajan were “genuine or justified”. “What about charges levelled by Swamy against Rajan. The Prime Minister and Finance Minister should explain if they agree with it or they let down Rajan.”
Buffeted by political attacks coupled with unending speculation over his continuance, Rajan on Saturday said no to a second term in the post, a surprise decision the industry and opposition parties termed as nation’s loss. “... on due reflection, and after consultation with the government, I want to share with you that I will be returning to academia when my term as Governor ends on September 4, 2016,” Rajan said in a message to the RBI staff

The conversion to Islam of a 14- year-old girl from Kalasha community, Pakistan’s smallest religious minority, has sparked clashes between majority Muslims and a few thousand remaining members of the animist tribe. Nestled in the picturesque Chitral valley, the Kalasha people, who follow an ancient animistic religion and number only around 3,000, had claimed that the teenage girl was lured to convert to Islam.
However, a district official today said that the girl has recorded her statement before the court that she converted out of her own free will.
Yesterday, clashes were reported between Muslims and the Kalasha people after the girl returned back to her family amid reports that she was lured and bullied to convert to Islam. According to eye witnesses, a mob of few hundred Muslim men attacked a house in the Kalash tribe’s valley of Bumburate in the northern district of Chitral after the girl returned; the police had to fire tear gas to disperse the crowd
Chitral Deputy Commissioner Usama Waraich said that the situation was now under control and the matter has been resolved as both local Muslims and Kalasha people have agreed to respect the girl’s decision.
However, some elders of the Kalasha community still claim that the girl was forcefully converted and demand an impartial probe into the matter. Kalasha people mostly live in Bamburate, Birir and Rambur regions of Chitral, a northern district in the troubled Khyber-Pukhtunkwa province.
The closely-knit community with its distinctive language, colourful dresses, songs and dances and elaborate rituals, has long been an anomaly in the Muslim-majority Pakistan and are under increased threat from militants who want to convert them to Islam.

Once Again ill-got, ill spent -- America released 80 Crore Dollars to Pak

By on Thursday, June 16, 2016
India has once again ill-got, ill-spent. American Congress has passed the national defence authorization bill to release the fund 80 Crore Dollars to Pakistan.
The Fund have been released to Pakistan to fight against Terrorism. The 30 Crore Dollars will be utilized to annihilate mere Haqqani Network of the released funds. The Dawn Newspaper of Pakistan has confirmed about the sanction.
The decision of American Congress exactly a day later came after not being passed bill of special status to India. America released fund to fight against terrorism under the CSF (Collation Support Fund) to Pakistan and Afghanistan. Now this new mechanism will replace it.
America has granted assistance of 3.1 billion Dollar to Pakistan under CSF so far since 2013, but the period of fund is going to end in October this year. Afghanistan has been removed in the new bill.

Earlier this sanction, the amendment bill brought to create the global strategist and defense fellow of Indo-US could not have been passed on Wednesday in the US Congress. Now India is not privileged country to America. John McCain, the senator of Republican Party introduced this amendment in national defense authorization act. If the amendment bill was passed, India could have been count in global and defense fellow to America.

Demands not new with centre: M.Karunanidhi DMK chief

By on Thursday, June 16, 2016
DMK today indicated there was nothing new in the issues raised by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa when she met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, saying her dossier of demands was just “old wine in new bottle.” Party President M Karunanidhi said Jayalalithaa had presented a similar list of demands to Modi in the national capital after he took over in 2014, and during their meeting here last year as well.
The demands included constituting the Cauvery Management Board, stopping Karnataka from constructing a dam across river Cauvery at Mekedatu and funds for state projects including the power sector, he said in a statement here. “We can easily understand that these demands have not been fulfilled, from the fact that they are being repeatedly taken up (with Modi),” he said.

The DMK chief said that after demands are made with the Centre, “political and administrative pressure” has to be exerted to ensure they are fulfilled, as state Ministers have to call on their Union cabinet counterparts and officials. “That the Chief Minister has put forth the same pleas made two years back, one is reminded of the saying – old wine in a new bottle,” Karunanidhi said. Jayalalithaa had called on Modi yesterday and presented various demands meant for the state’s welfare.

Bottled water can be harmful too!

By on Wednesday, June 15, 2016
Most of us, when we’re out and about, tend to drink bottled water because it is supposed to be hygienic and it’s also supposed to contain minerals that are good for our health.
How wrong we are. Bottled water has become a big business, and water shortages and mismanagement lead to unscrupulous people exploiting our basic need for clean drinking water.
Tests have proved that many brands of bottled water cheat us via their labels. The water may have been purified, but it is not mineral water. And many brands named after mountains around the world have no connection with those places at all. Finally, water from cheap plastic bottles is known to be harmful. So know your bottled water before you buy it.
many brands of bottled water cheat us via their labels.

Sparkling water
Carbon dioxide has been added to make the water fizzy, imitating spring water. But purification is the only guarantee: the source may not actually be a spring. It’s expensive, but sparkling water is a good substitute if you are trying to give up sugary aerated drinks because it has the same fizz, but not the same calories.
Mineral water
Technically, mineral water is supposed to contain at least 250 parts per million of dissolved minerals which must have already been in the water when it was sourced. But many brands call their water mineral water even though it isn’t.
confirm about your bottle which you buy.
Purified water
This is water that has been through distillation, or reverse osmosis, or filtration. It is free of bacteria and toxic solids, but lacks essential minerals. This is water with added vitamins and some sugar. However, in some cases, the sugar level is very high.
What to do
Carry a good quality, lightweight water bottle to fill at restaurants. In Europe and America, the tap water is hygienic enough to drink. In India, most restaurants will let you fill your water bottle provided you are also eating there. Water served on Indian trains is tap water with minor processing.
