Slum Colony Fire Disrupted Train Services Bandra Railway Station

Fire Risked Railway Station: Slum-dwellers faced no casualties.

         April 26, 2015: A fire broke out at the Shastri Nagar slum colony adjoining platforms 1 and 2 of the Bandra railway station on Saturday night, disrupting train services on the Western Railway line. The fire brigade rushed eight fire tenders to control the blaze that began at 8:15 pm.
       According to Western Railway officials, the overhead wire had to be turned off for around half an hour for a safety purpose, which disrupted train services between Mahim and Bandra. Later trains were diverted to platform 2 at Bandra station.
        An official from BMC’s disaster management department said, “We received two calls reporting fire. The first call which we received at 8.37 pm reported about fire near platform 1. The second call was made at 8:48 pm and stated that there was a fire on platform number two. Our rescue team and the fire brigade personnels rushed to the spot.”
