20 Army personnel killed in Manipur

04/JUN/2015: At least 20 army personnel including JCO were killed in a militant attack on Thursday under Chandel district in  Manipur and reported 12 were injured. 6th Dogra convoy, while it was on way from Motul to Imphal, came in trap of the attack around the time 8.45 morning. The injured were rushed by airway to Nagaland. The militants fired the grenade propelled rockets on four army vehicles. The ambush was waylaid between the villages, Chairong and Parlong. The bodies of armed personnels were charred in this attack. This is being seen the attack on Indian Army was worst ever in the past decade. Not less than a dozen of army men were wounded in most deadliest attack in recent year.
The security analysts doubt is that the attack, on armed forces, resulted in retaliation of killing a woman by them on Monday.
The bandh was observed in the whole district on wednesday in protest against this killing. Manipur, which have 2.5 million population, has faced militant insurgency. The various tribes militancy are active in the region.  Despite the standing order of shoot at sight and being imposed the AFSPA in the North-East provinces, the army is struggling for their billet and claimed yet 450 lives sacrifice during  last year. The lawmakers have  removed the AFSPA in Tripura and the adjoining area of Bangladesh.
