Sarah Joseph returns her Sahitya Akademi Award

Malayalam writer and activist, Sarah Joseph, with her voice against ‘communal policy of union government, has decided to return her Sahitya Akademi Award (literary academy award).
It is first instance when the writer of Kerala on rising of the communal issues in the country took such step to express her opposite reaction.
Nayan Tara Sehgal, famous writer and niece of Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru; former president of Lalit Kala Academy, Ashok Bajpai; the renowned story writer of Hindi literature Udai Prakash— all had returned their prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award (literary academy award). The Urdu novelist Rahman Abbas has decided to return the Urdu Academy Award.
