NIA officer shot dead by unidentified gunmen in bijnor; wife injured

Motorbike borne two unidentified assailants
shot Mr Tanzil Ahmed, 45, an NIA officer, resident of Shahinbagh Delhi, at
Sahaspur in district Bijnor in UP on Saturday night. The officer died on the
spot and his wife has injured. According to report, the assailants were
tailgating the car since 30 minutes.
Tanzil Ahmed was returning with his wife and
children from marriage ceremony of his niece; motorbike borne two miscreants
shoot him. They fired at him many rounds. The officer was returning by his car.
According to the preliminary report, 24 bullets by 9MM
revolver were shot on Tanjil. 12 bullets during autopsy were ejected out from
the body; 9, crossed the body; while 3, only touched the body.
Mr Tanjil Ahmad was buried in Jamia cemetery
on Sunday evening. Mr. Ahemad was on Dy SP post in National Investigating
Agency. He was given official salute and respect; the present crowd of funeral
was shouting, ’Jai Hind’ and ‘Hindustan Jindabad’; simultaneously they were
shouting: ‘UP government Hai, Hai’ and ‘Tanjil Ahmad Amar Rahe’. No political
leaders’ presence was the cause of resentment to the crowd. However Arvind
Kejriwal reached the spot to pay respect at the last rites.
Rs 20
lakh ex-gratia will be paid to the officer’s family by the BSF and all the
possible assistance to the bereft family of martyr will be given. Mr Tanjil was
posthumously bedecked by martyr.

Minster, Rajnath Singh said to UP government to maintain law and order in the
state. Raj Nath Singh said, “I hope that the UP government will improve the
situation of law and order. The team went there and collecting all the
information.”

Bareli, Vijey Kumar said, “the information that was collected preliminarily inquiry reveals
the DSP was on target, not his family.”
NIA IG,
SK Singh said, “our brave officer, Tajil was killed in a planned attack, his
wife is injured.” He told, “The UP Police, STF and ATS are investigating the
case.”
