Journalist Murdered in Bihar

Patna: Rajdev Ranjan,42, senior journalist, was
returning to home late evening from his office on Friday, meanwhile
unidentified assailants intercepted his motor bike near flyover bridge under
town area police station and opened fire at him; Ranjan sustained two bullets
injuries; and died on the way to hospital.
Mr Ranjan was working on the post of bureau
chief Siwan, Dainik Hindustan. The SP Siwan told that the offenders were
motorcycle borne; but their phiz, their numbers are unknown yet. The
investigation is going on. The police have taken two men in custody. They are
being questioned.
Mr Ranjan was the resident of Mahadeva
Mission compound. He had celebrated his marriage anniversary on Thursday.
The
BJP targeted Nitish government, the spokesperson Sambit Patra said, " not
only jungle rule here; but also the situation worsened here now than
before."
Mr
Shahnawaz Hussain, the BJP leader, said, “Rajdev Ranjan was a courageous journalist
in the field of writing…having heard his murder I am saddened very much…the
situation has worsened now in Bihar than before.”
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has condemned the killing and directed top police officers to take prompt action in the case.

IG Bihar Mr Sunil Kumar sent a superintendent of police rank
of officer to investigate
the matter.
Meanwhile, a US-based media watchdog called for an investigation
into the brutal killings of two journalists in Bihar and Jharkhand this week.
