The Union Government indicated it may take an important step on
‘triple Talaq’ after ending the process of Assembly Election in 5 states. Ravi
Shankar Prasad, Union Minister, said SP, BSP and Congress to clarify their
stands on this disputed issue.
The matter is of women’s respect; not of any religion; nor of
faith’, he stressed on this point. Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “We respect the
faith, but the worship and the evil both cannot run together."
He added that the evil of telling three times Talaq snatched from women their respect.
He said, "The union government is committed to eradicate this evil from the society."
The Union Minister had said during a press conference on Saturday
evening in Ghaziabad, “The Union Government after the Assembly Election in UP
may take an important step to restrict the triple Talaq system.”
The election process is
going on in UP and 4 other states, which is to be ended on 11th march after the
result declaring.
Stressing the need to end this practice to hurt to the respect and
life of women, Mr Prasad said, “The Apex court had asked to clarify the stand
of Union Government on this issue; and we clarified to the court by giving
answer on three grounds – justice, equality and women’s respect."
The senior leader of
BJP said, “It is only our party which respects the women. Other parties neither
place women on better posts, they nor respect them.” He added on this issue in
Lucknow, “I say that Akhilesh, Rahul and Mayawati ji – All must clarify their
stands on triple Talaq issue.”
