Government so clement over reservation; Maratha protests on Mumbai road
The demand of
reservation in Maharastra took turn into an agitation. Maratha Kranti Morcha
staged a demonstration for the reservation. About one million Maratha were on
the road for their demand. The road from Baykhala to Azad Maidan was
overcrowded by the protestors in Mumbai. The demonstrators have warned the
government not to leave Mumbai till fulfilling of their demand.
The chief
minister of Maharastra, Mr D Fdnavish, has assured the demonstrators that the
reservation in educational courses shall be provided to Marathas under OBC
category. However he said that the economically weak groups have been
recommended for the reservation benefits. The government has assured the
reservation to be implemented in 605 government programmes. The government has
not promised to full reservation.
The reservation has been
assured to economically weak section and the community’s students will be
helped by newly hostels to be built, the government has assured. The government
has taken decision to grant the fund Rs 450 crore for the students ‘hostel. The
hostels are to be built every district of state and the youths have been
promised to be sectioned the loans for the start up the employment.
